I like Catherine's comments - individuals doing what they want - being church representatives at the organizations they are involved with already. Tim - I'd like you to let us know what you think are the "basic core functions of the congregation". And thanks for these reflections in ministrymatters.

Something we are looking at in the Diocese of BC; where d we fit and what is our mandate? As a Parish that is relatively healthy; (small numbers, but active and committed people) we are starting to look at what individuals really WANT to do; rather than what we need done. It is turning out to be an amazing transformation! And, we are looking at what people are doing out in the Community and asking them to officially be a church representative at other organizations that they are involved with. People aren't taking on more; just recognizing that their mission of spreading the Gospel extends to what they are already doing. Teaching Organic gardening, helping with Seniors at Swimming, Shopping with an ESL person, attending City Council meetings; are all taking on a new dimension with the focus of why they are there; having changed.
