Nicole Uzans spent most of her first 28 years in Ontario. After acquiring two undergraduate degrees—in visual arts and theology—she moved to southern England, where she was a member of the Pilsdon Community for two years. She is currently living in the Annapolis Valley, N.S., where she is working in sustainable agriculture and building a very small house—on wheels.

The Rev. Kyle Wagner, a native of Prince Edward Island, has degrees from Mount Allison University and the Atlantic School of Theology. She has 26 years of shared living with the people of Guatemala, and has been engaged in human rights witness, support of local communities, and resistance to Canadian mining industry' imposition on Maya sacred land. Ms. Smith is pursuing doctoral studies on martyrs and holy innocents in the Guatemala genocide, and Mayan concepts of death and non-death.
